 Assoc. Prof. Dr Todorka Yankovska-Stefanova, DVM

Deputy Executive Director of Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) responsible for the areas of competence of the: „Food Control“ Directorate with the BFSA Central Office; National Diagnostic-and-research Veterinary Medical Institute, its food safety sector in particular; Central Laboratory for Chemical Tests and Control, Central Laboratory for Veterinary Control and Ecology and Central Laboratory for Quality Assessment of Grain and Feed.

Assoc. Prof. Dr Todorka Yankovska-Stefanova, DVM was born on 1 July, 1967 in the town of Smolyan, Bulgaria.  In 1991 she graduated her higher education from the Higher Institute for Zootechnics and Veterinary Medicine in the town of Stara Zagora acquiring diploma for „Veterinary Doctor“. In 2008 she acquired her educational-and-scientific degree „Doctor“ for the scientific speciality of „Veterinary Sanitary Expertise“. In 2011 she graduated and acquired diploma for her second MSc degree, but for Economics in the Business Faculty of the Thracian University in Stara Zagora. In 2015 she acquired her academic degree as Associate Professor in the scientific subject of „Veterinary Sanitary Expertise“.

She was appointed for Director of the Central Laboratory for Veterinary Sanitary Expertise and Ecology (with BFSA) in 2012.  In 2011 she hold the position of Executive Director of the Meat-processors‘ Association of Bulgaria.  From 1992 till 2011 she has been working in the CLVSEE with the then National Veterinary Service (NVS) starting as expert and leaving as Department Chief.

She has specialisations in the areas of laboratory controls, quality management systems and food-safety management systems in Italy, Japan and the Netherlands.
